Statistics of international marriages in different countries
Love knows no boundaries, or so they say. The number of international marriages continues to rise. Here is a closer look at the statistics of international marriages in different countries.
1. United States
In the United States, there are approximately 38.5 million international marriages, accounting for about 17% of all marriages in the country. The vast majority of these marriages are between U.S. citizens and foreign nationals from Mexico, the Philippines, China, and India.
In Japan, there are approximately 1.5 million international marriages, accounting for about 11% of all marriages in the country. The vast majority of these marriages are between Japanese citizens and foreign residents from China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Of course, this success rate doesn’t come without its fair share of challenges. It’s important to acknowledge and address the unique challenges couples face, rather than glorify successful mail order bride marriages for their exotic appeal. Overall, international marriages can certainly be fulfilling and rewarding, but they should never be taken lightly.
Mail Order Marriages Divorce Rate
To extend the answer to “Does a mail order bride work?” question, I compared the divorce rate for all marriages in the United States (is around 50%), and the divorce rate for mail order marriages (is actually quite low, 20%.)
There are a number of factors that contribute to the successful outcome of mail order bride marriages, including the fact that partners first got to know each other well on a dating site and chose each other based on their preferred appearance, financial situation, values, and goals. In addition, mail order marriages involve couples who are from different cultures, which adds an extra layer of excitement and fun to the relationship.
Despite cultural differences, language barriers, and other issues that can make communication difficult, many mail order marriages are still strong, lasting, and have a very high success rate. If you’re considering entering into a mail order marriage, there’s no need to be discouraged – with a little bit of preparation and understanding, I’m more than sure your marriage can be a true love story too.
